Perkin-Elmer Get-togethers

Many P-E Retirees like to get together to find out "Whassup", and to recall the
people and projects of the “Perkin-Elmer that used to be.” Add pizza and beer,
lunch (or whatever) and the get-togethers become regular established events.

In the Danbury Area:
Get-togethers are normally held at Noon on the last Wednesday of each month at Chuck's Steakhouse, 20 Segar Street, Danbury (phone 203-792-5555). Attendees are mostly from the Optical Shop-Methods and Metrology. For information, contact Bud Rigby via e-mail at budrigby@Comcast.net  or phone 203-438-5702.

Another one in the Danbury Area.
This group meets weekly in the food court at the Danbury Fair Mall every
Thursday between 12:00 Noon and about 3:00 p.m. The  core members are
the golf partners Fred Marra, Al Loewenstine, Bob Zarba and Al Bronico.
Other regulars are Herb Weisblatt, Ed DeVeaux and John Evans. Many other
former OTD guys show up from time to time. All others are welcome at any time.
The first arrival stakes out a table, or two, near the carousel. Everybody gets his own meal at any one of the dozen or more food venues in the court. We talk about everything under the sun.
For more information, contact Jack Froehlich, at dadjack@gmail.com

In the Ridgefield  Area:

Get-togethers are held at Lombardi’s Pizza Plus ll Restaurant, 22 Main Street in Georgetown/Redding on the last Wednesday of each month (except December) at 5:30 p.m. Going north on Route 57, turn right onto Main Street just before the junction with Route 107. The restaurant is located on the East/right side of Main Street just a few doors past the Georgetown Saloon. Going north or south on Route 7, turn and go east on Route 107 until you get to Route 57. Then turn right onto Route 57 heading south and take the very next left turn onto Main Street and proceed about a block to Lombardi’s on your right. Lombardi's phone number is (203) 544-9447.

For more information, contact either Gene Schlesinger via e-mail at ersengineering01@aol.com or phone 203-762-5984 or Bud Rigby via e-mail at budrigby@att.net or phone 203-438-5702.

In the Norwalk Area:

The luncheon get-togethers are held starting at Noon at the Ischoda Yacht Club on the second Thursday of each month. The Ischoda Yacht Club is located on Water Street in South Norwalk. Going south on Water Street, turn into the driveway just before Rex Marine. Go all the way back and the Club is located next to the river. The place is small but comfortable and the food is reasonably priced with a good selection.

For more information, contact either Jim Dunn by e-mail at JimADunn@prodigy.net or phone 203-762-5718 or Gene Schlesinger via e-mail at ersengineering01@aol.com or phone 203-762-5984.

In the Bridgeport, Stratford, Shelton, Trumbull Area:
A monthly breakfast get-together for former P-E people is normally held on the first Friday of every month at 8:30 a.m. at the Riverside Diner, 521 River Road in Shelton. There are currently 12 attendees representing all major and former  P-E facilities in Connecticut. Regular attendees are Jon Aspinwall, Joe O’Connor, Chet Sokol, William Morris, Lou Marino, Lou Trapasso, Ron Garofollo, Paul Taormina, John Montouri, Walt Roman, and Eph Tobin. Occasional attendees are John Connic, Joe DeMaiorebus, and Vic Abraham. For information, contact Eph Tobin at (203) 268-9086 of by email at bntedt@charter.net.

In the Orange County, California Area:

Two or three times a year, about 30 to 50 associates from former Perkin-Elmer related companies join together in a Happy Hour normally held at the Irvine House Restaurant, 1727 E. Dyer Road, Santa Ana from 5:30 to 8:00 p.m. There is no fee and you pay for what you drink and for whatever food you may order. Family, friends and new co-workers are also invited.

According to Sharon Canfield, it is “A reunion for former OCA Applied Optics, Perkin-Elmer and Corning OCA Employees and friends (including our extended families at LightWorks Optics, Newport and Zygo.)”

For information regarding the next get-together or to be added to the Invitees List, email Sharon at scanfield@lwoptics.com or phone 714-247-7140.
